I was in a small trailer house in Geiger Trailer Park near Marine Corps Air Facility, New River, North Carolina.
It was around 1963. I was sleep beside wife. A loud humming, buzzing sound came over me and I was paralyzed, desperately struggling to wake.
My wife slept on blissfully even though I was sure I was mumbling (all I could do) "Help me!" over and over again.
Finally I woke up. Got up and went to the bathroom, washed my face with cold water, went and sat in the front room for awhile, terrified that this nightmare would come again.
It had been happening at least once a month since 1952.
Soon I went back to bed. As soon as I closed my eyes the noise came again with the paralysis. This happened about 5 or 6 times that night.
Each time I had the feeling that something large and heavy had been lowered over my chest and I struggled to push it away even though I could not move my arms.
These 'nightmares' continued on at least once amonth until they began tapering off around 1965. I had the last one around 1967.
Most of the time in these occurrences, I felt that I was totally conscious, but paralyzed.
These were the most terrifying things that ever happened in my life. I am glad that they are over.
